One of the most sought-after cosmetic procedures today is fat transfer to the face, breasts, or bottom. A fat transfer reverses the signs of aging and achieves natural looking and feeling volume while at the same time sculpting the figure. At Neaman Plastic Surgery, our surgeons are able to perform fat transfer as a part of your facelift procedure, as an option for augmenting your breasts, and during the popular Brazilian butt lift to enhance the final results.

WHAT IS A FAT GRAFTING PROCEDURE?

Commonly referred to as autologous fat grafting, fat transfer is a revolutionary treatment that utilizes liposuction to get rid of fat in one area and move it to another desirable area, including the following:

YOUR FACE
to add volume to cheeks or to fill in facial lines and wrinkles,

YOUR BOTTOM
to provide a round, perky and appealing contour,

YOUR BREASTS
to increase the size by 1-2 cup sizes, improve the shape and symmetry, and achieve a beautiful yet natural look and feel.

FAT GRAFTING–A TWO-IN-ONE PROCEDURE

Instead of using a synthetic filler or substance, fat grafting uses your body’s very own fat cells, which helps to reduce the risk of developing an infection or experiencing an adverse reaction.

The procedure begins by selecting a donor site where you would like to achieve a slimmer, more contoured appearance and extracting fat through liposuction. The most common sites treated with liposuction for fat grafting include the abdomen, hips, and inner thighs.

Once the fat has been removed, it is placed in a centrifuge system that purifies the fat cells and gets the tissue ready to be injected back into the body. After the excess fluids and impurities have been removed, the purified fat is carefully and skillfully injected into the treatment area using either a cannula or syringe, depending on how much fat is being reinserted and where it is being injected into the body.

This two-in-one procedure shapes and contours the donor site while improving volume and curves in the recipient site.

THE MANY BENEFITS OF FAT TRANSFER

The great thing about the fat transfer procedure is that it can be used to treat an array of conditions and body parts. It is an ideal anti-aging treatment to rejuvenate the face and neck, two of the first places on the body to display signs of aging.

Facial fat grafting is becoming more and more popular as the procedure itself is minimally invasive and does not require any surgical incisions or leave any type of scarring. Adding fat to bring volume back into the face can help to improve skin texture and create a natural, more youthful and radiant appearance.

For the face, a fat transfer can enhance the results of a facelift:

  • provide youthful volume to cheeks and temples
  • achieve a defined chin and jawline
  • improve the appearance of facial scars
  • fill in dips to smooth out the skin.

For the bottom, a fat transfer provides:

  • plump volume to buttocks or naturally flat, smaller buttocks
  • a full, lifted appearance
  • a round, perky, and appealing behind.

For the breasts, a fat transfer can:

  • sculpt the area around the breasts, transferring the fat tissue into the breasts themselves
  • achieve larger, more symmetrical, and more attractive breasts
  • provide a completely natural look and feel

FAT GRAFTING RESULTS:

As the swelling subsides and the new fat cells settle and readjust, there may be changes in your final results. It will take 4-6 months for these final results to be fully visible, as the fat cells take time to settle, and a percentage of the injected fat will dissolve in the first few weeks after the procedure. This is a natural part of the healing process and is the reason our surgeons don’t guarantee a specific result when using fat transfer for breast augmentation as opposed to an implant.

RECOVERY AFTER FAT GRAFTING:

Recovery time after fat grafting varies depending on which area of the body you choose for fat transfer. You will experience some swelling and bruising at the donor site that will resolve over the following few weeks. Most patients are able to return to light work and activities within about one week after their facelift with fat transfer or fat transfer breast augmentation. It will take 2-3 weeks until patients feel comfortable returning to work after a Brazilian butt lift, as you will not be able to sit directly on your bottom for 2-3 weeks. You will need to get clearance from your surgeon and wait for about 4-6 weeks to resume more strenuous work or exercise.

I am very pleased with Dr. Neaman and staff! My surgeries had an excellent outcome! I would recommend to anyone looking to get work done. He is an artist!
