A breast reduction reduces the size of the breasts by removing excess breast tissue, fat, and skin. It is also used to shift the nipple and areola to a higher and more appealing position. If need be, the areola can be resized to be proportionate to the rest of the breast.
WHAT INCISIONS DOES A SURGEON USE TO REDUCE THE BREAST VOLUME?
The most common method of performing a breast reduction involves three incisions: A circle around the areola A circle followed by an incision vertically down the breast The anchor method which includes a circle around the areola followed by the vertical incision and then a horizontal incision across the crease underneath the breast

A breast reduction is an ideal procedure for women who suffer from overly large breasts that are causing physical and emotional pain, or women that simply desire smaller breasts.
DOES A BREAST REDUCTION AFFECT NIPPLE SENSATION?
Following breast reduction surgery, you may experience some temporary nipple sensation changes due to deep tissue manipulation; however, over time sensitivity should return to normal. During a standard breast lift, there should be no loss in nipple sensation.
WILL I HAVE SCARS AFTER BREAST REDUCTION SURGERY?
As with any other surgical procedure, you will have some degree of scarring from breast reduction. Your scars should gradually fade over time and will be placed where they can easily be hidden underneath a bra and other clothing.
