Treat Spider Veins & Small Varicose Veins Safely and Effectively

NATURAL LOOKING RESULTS

During sclerotherapy, your nurse injector uses a very fine needle to place a targeted sclerosing solution directly into the vein.

The treated vessel closes and blood is naturally rerouted through healthier veins, helping surface discoloration fade over the following weeks. Most appointments are quick, require no anesthesia, and fit easily into a lunch break. Patients love the confidence boost from smoother-looking skin, plus the minimal downtime, typically just compression stockings and light walking afterward.

Because treatment is customizable, we can address clusters of blue, purple, or red spider veins for a clearer, more even-looking result. Results build gradually over weeks.

Why Choose Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy has remained the gold standard for treating spider veins and small varicose veins for decades because it’s one of the most reliable, efficient, and minimally invasive ways to restore clearer, healthier-looking legs.

Highly Effective Vein Reduction

By directly targeting the affected vessel, sclerotherapy allows the vein to collapse and fade naturally over time.

Quick, Comfortable Treatment

The injections are performed with extremely fine needles for minimal discomfort. Many patients describe it as a quick stinging or warming sensation that passes within seconds.

Little to No Downtime

One of the biggest advantages is how easy the recovery is. You can walk immediately after treatment and return to normal daily activities the same day.

Improves Both Appearance and Comfort

While many people seek sclerotherapy for cosmetic reasons, the benefits go beyond aesthetics. Treating problem veins can also reduce aching or heaviness, minimize throbbing, and swelling.

Long-Lasting, Reliable Results

Once a treated vein collapses and is absorbed, it does not return. While new veins may develop over time due to genetics or lifestyle factors, sclerotherapy provides long-lasting improvement.

Safe and Trusted Treatment

Sclerotherapy has been used safely for more than 90 years and continues to be one of the most recommended solutions for spider veins.

Who Is an Ideal Candidate for Sclerotherapy?

Feel More Confident in Your Skin

If spider veins or small varicose veins are affecting your comfort or confidence, our expert team is here to help. Sclerotherapy is quick, effective, and tailored to your needs.

Feel Confident in What You Wear

Spider veins can make shorts, dresses, and swimwear feel off-limits. Sclerotherapy helps reduce visible veins so you can show your legs comfortably and focus on the moment, not your skin, all season long, confidently again.

Refresh a Tired, Veiny Look

Blue, purple, or red veins can distract from otherwise healthy-looking skin. Treating them can create a clearer, more even tone that photographs better, pairs well with self-tanner, and helps your skin look naturally smoother overall.

Prepare for a Milestone Event

Whether you’re planning a vacation, wedding, or reunion, sclerotherapy is an easy way to polish your look. Results develop over weeks, making it ideal to plan ahead for dates, outfits, and important moments in photos.

Maintain Results Over Time

If genetics, aging, pregnancy, or long hours sitting or standing keep triggering new spider veins, periodic treatment can help you stay ahead of them. We can map a maintenance plan that fits you and your lifestyle.

All treatments are delivered in a setting overseen by board-certified plastic surgeons, plus, our community has voted us the #1 Medi Spa in the Willamette Valley for five years running.

Where can you use Sclerotherapy?

Spider veins and small visible veins can age the look of skin by adding unwanted blue, purple, or red lines. Because sclerotherapy is targeted, it can be part of an anti-aging plan, helping skin look clearer and more even-toned.

Legs

Legs are the most common area for sclerotherapy, especially for spider veins on the thighs, calves, and around the ankles. Your nurse injector treats the visible vessels with precise injections, then we guide you on compression stockings and light walking to support closure.

Chest

Sun exposure and thinning skin can make small veins more noticeable across the chest and décolletage. In select cases, sclerotherapy can reduce the look of superficial veins by treating targeted vessels so they gradually fade. During your consultation, our team will evaluate your skin and vessels and may recommend alternative options, like laser, if that’s better suited.

Hands

Prominent hand veins can make hands look older, even when facial skin looks refreshed. In select cases, sclerotherapy may soften the appearance of superficial veins on the hands by closing targeted vessels so they fade over time. Because hand anatomy varies, we start with an in-person consultation to confirm candidacy and choose the safest approach.

Face

Facial spider veins can draw attention to redness and uneven tone, especially around the nose and cheeks. When appropriate, sclerotherapy can help reduce select visible facial veins using precise, medically guided injections performed by our nurse injectors under board-certified surgeon oversight. We’ll review your health history, assess the vessels, and confirm the safest approach, sometimes recommending laser instead.

Extremely happy with my experience at Neaman Medi Spa. I was met with a caring, friendly staff. I am 59 and showing signs of aging. First, I had filler and BOTOX done by with great results. Next, a laser treatment using radio waves. Very little recovery time. I love the results already.

What to Expect During Sclerotherapy Treatment

Before Treatment

Your provider will examine the veins, review your medical history, and determine the best approach. You may be asked to avoid certain medications (like NSAIDs) beforehand.

1

During Treatment

You’ll lie comfortably with the treatment area exposed. A very small needle is used to inject the sclerosant into the vein. You may feel slight pressure, burning, or itching, but most patients find the treatment very tolerable.

2

After Treatment

You can walk as soon as treatment is complete and return to most activities the same day. We recommend wearing compression stockings for 1-2 weeks after your treatment. Avoid heavy exercise, hot baths, saunas, and sun exposure for 48 hours.

It’s normal to experience temporary redness, slight swelling, or small bruises. These will fade as the vein heals.

Where can I get sclerotherapy near me?

Neaman Plastic Surgery & Medi Spa offers sclerotherapy treatments in Salem, Oregon, serving patients throughout the Willamette Valley, including Keizer, Albany, Silverton, and surrounding communities. Our experienced medical providers deliver safe, effective vein treatments in a comfortable, professional setting.

How often do you need sclerotherapy?

Most patients need 1–3 treatment sessions, spaced 4–6 weeks apart, depending on the number, size, and depth of the veins being treated. Some vein clusters respond very quickly, while larger or more stubborn veins may require additional sessions for full clearance.

Are sclerotherapy injections painful?

Sclerotherapy is generally very well tolerated. The injections use an extremely fine needle, and most patients describe the sensation as a mild stinging, tingling, or warming feeling that lasts only a few seconds. Discomfort is typically brief, but some people do describe feeling higher levels of pain.

How soon will I see results?

Most patients begin noticing improvement within 2–6 weeks, with veins continuing to fade over the following months. Smaller spider veins tend to fade the fastest, while larger or darker veins may require multiple treatments to achieve optimal results.

What are the risks associated with sclerotherapy?

Sclerotherapy is considered very safe when it’s performed by trained medical professionals, but like any medical procedure, it does carry some potential risks. Most side effects are mild and temporary, such as bruising, redness, or itching. We also recommend that patients avoid long-haul travel (>5 hours) for 3-4 weeks following the procedure, because there is an increased risk of deep vein thrombosis.

Is sclerotherapy good for hemorrhoids?

No. Sclerotherapy for hemorrhoids is a completely different medical procedure performed by a colorectal specialist, not a cosmetic injector. At Neaman Plastic Surgery, our sclerotherapy treatments are exclusively for leg veins such as spider veins and small varicose veins.
