Neaman Plastic Surgery and Neaman Surgery Center is the premier body contouring destination in the Willamette Valley. We are seeking a talented and driven medical assistant to help coordinate the care of our patients and enhance their surgical experience. You will be part of a dynamic team of plastic surgeons, physician assistants, and anesthesiologists focused on providing excellent care and improved patient outcomes. This position will serve as a key liaison between our practice’s clinic and surgical aspects, assisting patients as they progress through their surgical journey.
The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, 8-5.
Job Summary: Assist in activities of care coordination, direct pre- and post-operative patient care, charting, problem solving, as well as extensive patient education for all Neaman Plastic Surgery patients.
Essential Functions
Charting and Administrative Duties:
- Ensure all related reports, labs and information is filled out and available in patients’ medical records prior to their appointment
- Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; keeping patient information confidential.
- Administrative duties such as additional charting assistance for other Medical Assistants and filing
Patient Care
- Escort patients to exam rooms
- Gather patient history and reason for office visit
- Measure vital signs
- Weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature and any other pretesting or data required by the physician
- Records patient medical history, vital statistics, and test results in patient medical files. Ensures accuracy in documentation of information in patient’s chart.
- Assist physician and physician assistant in exam rooms
- Draws blood, removes sutures, changes dressings.
- Take telephone messages, and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls
- Maintains HIPAA compliance standards and practices complete confidentiality in all areas of practice and work.
Exam Room Preparation and Supply Maintenance
- Prepares treatment rooms for patient examinations
- Disinfects, cleans treatment rooms following patient examinations; Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
- Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare
- Sterilization as required; Properly disposes of contaminated supplies
- Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
- Maintain all logs and required checks (i.e., refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, cold sterilization fluid change, etc.)
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Two years of experience working in a medical facility.
- Effective customer service skills and a positive attitude.
- Strong written, verbal, and telephone communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to pay close attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a high-volume environment.
- Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with staff and physicians.
- Experience with wound care
- Knowledge of principles and skills needed to provide nursing assessment, intervention, and treatment.
- Knowledge of medications and their effects on patients.
- Knowledge of patient education principles to assist patients in caring for themselves.
- Have current Medical Assistant Certification
