WHAT IS DERMAPLANING?

Dermaplaning is a non-invasive procedure that consists of a 10 gauge scalpel gently scraping off the top layer of dead skin cells. The result is a fresh, smooth, and bright complexion.

BENEFITS OF DERMAPLANING

  • Helps exfoliate the skin and prevent broken capillaries
  • Painless procedure – similar to shaving your legs
  • No side effects
  • No downtime
  • Soft, smooth skin in about 30 minutes
  • Can be combined with a chemical peel
  • Reduces the signs of aging
  • Evens your skin texture
  • Helps with acne

ADDITIONAL DERMAPLANING TREATMENTS

Dermaplaning can be performed every 3-4 weeks like microdermabrasion because dead skin cells rebuild around that same time frame. The procedure is very safe and will never make hair grow back darker or thicker. This creates a fantastic foundation for makeup, as it eliminates the peach fuzz and allows for greater absorption of makeup and skincare products.

Dermaplaning must be performed by a licensed medical aesthetician who has received the proper training. Contact Neaman Medi Spa today to arrange your consultation and learn how Dermaplaning can help smooth and restore your skin.

DERMAPLANING VS. MICRODERMABRASION

Both dermaplaning and microdermabrasion are forms of exfoliation. However, the method to exfoliate the skin is what makes them unique. Microdermabrasion essentially sands and suctions dead skin cells. This process helps to clear pores from acne prone areas such as the chin, nose, and forehead. Dermaplaning scrapes off the top layer of skin including the peach fuzz and dead skin cells.

Is dermaplaning the same as shaving?

While both involve using a blade to remove hair, dermaplaning is a more precise exfoliation technique performed with a surgical scalpel to remove dead skin cells and fine vellus hair (peach fuzz). In contrast, shaving is typically done with a razor and focuses only on hair removal.

Does hair grow back thicker after dermaplaning?

No, dermaplaning does not cause hair to grow back thicker or darker. The hair may feel slightly different as it grows back because it has a blunt tip rather than the tapered end it naturally has, but the texture and growth rate remain the same.

Is dermaplaning good for the skin?

Yes, dermaplaning helps exfoliate the skin, remove dead cells, and enhance product absorption, leading to a smoother, brighter complexion. It can also improve the appearance of fine lines and hyperpigmentation. However, it may not be suitable for individuals with active acne or very sensitive skin.
